Who We Are
The Association of United Nations Ambassadors for Peace (ASUNAP) is a global platform dedicated to fostering peace, unity, and sustainable development. Bringing together Ambassadors for Peace from diverse backgrounds, ASUNAP works towards strengthening diplomatic relations, promoting social cohesion, and empowering leaders to drive positive change worldwide.
Our Historical Background
In a collective effort to build a united world of peace and shared progress, seven non-profit and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) from the seven continents came together to form ASUNAP. Recognizing that no meaningful development can thrive without peace, 49 bodies unanimously supported the creation of this global platform to champion peace initiatives and sustainable development.
To ensure effective leadership, ASUNAP sought and received three nominations from three continents for the election of its Secretary-General. On September 15, 2024, His Excellency, Professor Barika Dominic Saro-Laka, JP, development activist, and senior diplomat, was elected through a global voice vote. His appointment was formally communicated to the leadership of the United Nations, marking a significant milestone in ASUNAP’s mission to drive global peace initiatives.
